Yo, I saw this Pin the other day (by the way, my Pinterest house is ahhmazing, you should see it) and it was all about the 25 ways to have a Self-Care Sunday. It looked nice; it really did. I would love to go to the beach and read a book while listening to the waves crash melodically against the shore. I also would love to take the day to lay on the couch and do nothing but watch Hallmark movies and drink hot cocoa. I would love that.
The reality of it, though, is that I’m more likely to sneak and hide in the bathroom and turn the lights off to get some self-care Sunday going before the kids find me (in 2 minutes). MomXiety can kick my butt sometimes and if I just had 1 hour to myself, I feel like I can totally recharge. I go from grouchy mommy to nice mommy real quick. One hour? Is that too much to ask? So, I decided to make my own (realistic) self-care list with all you amazing moms in mind. Oh, and the list quickly went from 25 to 6, because fitting in self-care with a 2 ½ year old stuck to your leg is not exactly self-care.
You hear it all the time, “take some time for yourself”. And it’s true! But how often do you actually get the chance to really take time for yourself? I’ll answer for you-you don’t, not in this stage of life. And you know what else, I’m okay with that, as long as I get a few minutes in here and there, I can manage.
Alas, here is my take on self-care:
Fit it in when you can and be okay with it when you can’t. I see you doing #allthethings and doing a mighty fine job at it if I may. You deserve a break, even if it’s just to take five.
In good health,
